Singapore Leadership
A.I. and Food Security

Singapore, according to the Global AI Index, is the one of the top three countries in the world in its leadership in artificial intelligence, after the U.S. and China, a truly impressive feat because Singapore has a relatively small population.

Singapore, with a population of c. 5.9 M., has c. 97% internet users (higher than the SF Bay Area, including Silicon Valley), 5.2 M. Facebook users, 2.9 M. instagram users, and 2.4 M. tiktok users. Singapore, having historically imported most of its food, instituted a visionary 30/30 initiative (30% self-sufficiency in food production by 2030):

Singapore is now becoming a global model for local food production, pioneering innovative ways to grow food in minimum space – urban farming and a model for ocean aquaculture, since Singapore is surrounded by ocean, as well as cultivated meat that ends slaughtering live animals:

We’ll use the Google Maps API and align with the work of the Safe Ocean Network and Global Fishing Watch.

A Singapore Pilot could

  • identify and promote Singapore as a model for innovation and thought leadership;
  • match scientists at universities with community projects in need of their expertise;
  • develop gamified impact tracking case studies where appropriate;
  • augment and promote Singapore’s 30 by 30 initiative for local food self-sufficiency;
  • harness new tools and apps and instruct new users in their use as needed;
  • report on outcomes, explore translation, adaptation of Singapore’s model for other regions.

TRIGGER – Singapore’s Initiative for 30% Self-Sufficiency in Food Production by 2030

REACTION – Identify a handful of innovators in Singapore developing innovative food production ideas in response to this initiative.

ACTION – Invite them one at a time to present to a handful of us who seek potential case studies to explore alternative methods for impact tracking.

Prior to their presentations we develop Generative Templates as rough frameworks to be refined and customized to their projects with input from these innovators.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS – Our objectives are to

  • Design a Generic Scorecard, and
  • Customize that Scorecard to Track Impact of models for sustainable food production

EVALUATE OPTIONS

  • Develop criteria by which to revise and evolve the scorecard concept, including
  • Tolerance ranges for key scorecard parameters.
